Walk Up Music Wednesday, Vol. 5
(Need to know how this all started? Go here.)
Last week was a flurry of conferences and this week included a district walk through, report cards, and an awards ceremony. These songs helped me to mentally take on the day.
Monday-"Forever and Ever, Amen" by Zac Brown Band and Randy Travis. Yes, I know Randy straight up owns this song. I have loved this song ever since I was in the 5th grade. But as incredible as the solo Randy version is, I really love the instrumentation on the Zac Brown Band/Randy collab. First of all, ZBB's harmonies are second to none, which makes it a great song. But this version sounds just a little...sweeter than Randy's. I don't know if it's the tempo or what, but it just sounds kinda delicate or vulnerable or something. I can't articulate it at this exact moment, but when I can I'll let you know.
Tuesday-"Somebody's Watching Me" by Rockwell. Okay, so this one didn't actually happen. I knew the district would be conducting walk throughs Tuesday and I got so preoccupied I walked off and left my phone at my house. Normally, this isn't a big deal but I live 40 miles away from my school and when you realize you've left it at home and you're clear in the next county, you just leave it. However, this was the song I had previously selected for the day. And it turned out to be very true-someone was in my classroom for about 90 minutes straight. At one point there were 4 different observers. Could there have been a more apropos tune? ;)
Wednesday-"I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" by U2. So Tuesday afternoon I was supposed to have turned in my award certificates for the 1st nine weeks. Except that didn't get done because I had misplaced my awards certificates. Playing this song reminded me I needed to get those awards found. And pronto.
Thursday-"Thunder" by Imagine Dragons. No specific reason-just like that song.
Friday-"Drag Me Down" by One Direction. Don't judge. It's Fri-yay.
Bonus: So during our meeting with the admins during our planning Friday, our principal lifted the moratorium on blue jeans days other than Friday. I was so moved by the announcement I played this song in our meeting to express my sheer happiness.
